Winter sports

Winter sports

The Principality of Andorra undoubtedly stands out for being a country of snow. With more than 300 km of skiable terrain and eight million visitors a year, skiing plays an important role in the country's economy. Furthermore, Andorra has a wide range of tourist accommodation, hotels and other services at the foot of the slopes, making the stay of snow and mountain enthusiasts a unique experience. This being the case, the Pyrenean country offers up to four ski resorts to choose from.

Shopping Andorra

Shopping

The eight million annual visitors to the Principality of Andorra are not only attracted by sports, mainly winter sports, but also by shopping and other attractions. A few years ago, the main shopping avenues of Escaldes-Engordany and Andorra la Vella, Avinguda Carlemany and Avinguda Meritxell, respectively, were extensively remodelled with the aim of turning them into a large shopping artery that connected all the shops and services. As a result, residents and visitors can immerse themselves in an intense day of shopping, and end up relaxing in the thermal-leisure centre, Caldea.

Culture

Not many people know that the Principality of Andorra is the second country in the world with the most museums per square metre. This makes the Pyrenees country an ideal destination for art lovers, as they can lose themselves in any of the principality’s numerous museums: Carmen Thyssen Museum, Motorcycle Museum, National Automobile Museum, Nicolai Siadristy Miniatures Museum, Casa Cristo Ethnographic Museum, Areny Plandolit Museum-House, etc.

Gastronomy

Andorran gastronomy is nourished by its environment, so it is based on mountain flavours and products and has an important influence of both French and Catalan cuisine.
In Andorra local products are used, so the gastronomy is especially conditioned by the seasons, something that has traditionally characterised the self-subsistence of Andorran society.
